I couldn't sleep, so here I am in front of my computer screen and nothing to write about. Its a strange feeling, to have something to say, but can't seem to write or type it. Has anyone of you ever had the same kind of feeling? Well anyhow, I was browsing the net a couple of hours ago and I bumped into this site that lists, "Why Americans should never be allowed to travel" true accounts of travel agents. These are a few examples:

A client called in inquiring about a package to Hawaii. After going over all the cost info, she asked, "Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii?"

A man called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that is not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, "Don't lie to me. I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state."

A businessman called and had a question about the documents he needed in order to fly to China. After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded him he needed a visa. "Oh no I don't, I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those." I double checked and sure enough, his stay required a visa. When I told him this he said, "Look, I've been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express."

I found this video at digg.com. It linked me to Google Video. The video was about things that they do not show on American news. Watch for yourselves and judge. It was very disturbing, we really need the CNN from the Vietnam War era. They were the best as far as I can see it.

I was watching an episode of ‘West Wing’, an I got this weird sense that I wish politicians were more like the fictional president character played by Martin Sheen, President Josiah Bartlet. This is the type of leader that I could root for, someone that I would be proud of saying, “That is my president”.

Alas, he is only a fictitious character from a successful television series that ran from 1999 to 2006. But, wouldn’t it be a wonderful concept if there really was a person with his charisma, chivalry, intelligence, and truthfulness. A man that is not bounded by the corporations that donates to his campaign. A man that rules based on facts rather than greed.

Sadly, this is reality. There is no such person.
